WHAT TO WEAR?
BEFORE & AFTER SESSION:
Dark, baggy, and long flowy clothing, open-toed shoes, no bras, or tight clothing after your appointment to ensure the least amount of transfer & movement.
DURING SESSION:
Birthday suit, swimsuit/bikini, or undies! It’s completely up to your comfort level. We also will provide you with a hairnet, barrier cream, and an optional disposable nose plug if you would like. Once you have been sprayed, we will dry you & apply a complimentary finishing powder to ensure proper drying!
NOTE: Our solution is water-soluble and should come out of most fabrics. However, there are some fabrics like whites, satin’s, and lace that the solution could possibly stain.
*Please check out our mobile service territories (located at the bottom of this page) before booking.*
LV GLOW AFTERCARE STEPS:
-
DARK + BAGGY CLOTHING:
Wear dark, long, and baggy clothing. NO TIGHT CLOTHING INCLUDING BRAS/SPORT BRAS FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS. If you sleep in your tan, wear a long sleeve top and pants to bed to avoid cosmetic bronzer from transferring onto your sheets. Our solution is water soluble in most fabrics, but can stain whites, satin, and lace. So please be careful :)
Note: please keep in mind, any tight clothing that could rub up against your skin, while you have a spray tan, will cause physical exfoliation and may rub some of your spray tan off, especially when sweating.
-
RINSE VS. SHOWER:
In the spray tanning world, there is a difference between the words rinse & shower!
Rinse: NO SOAP, stand under lukewarm water and only use your hands, in circular motions, to gently wash away the cosmetic bronzer off your body. Once the water starts to run “clear” it’s time to hop out.
Shower: with a TAN-SAFE SOAP, stand under lukewarm water and only use your hands, in circular motions, to wash your entire body gently.
-
AVOID GETTING WET WHILE PROCESSING:
Try your absolute hardest not to get wet or sweat until after your first rinse or shower depending on which solution you get. Getting wet before fully processing will mess with your spray tan. This unfortunately includes animal kisses as well :(
-
NO TOUCHING WHILE PROCESSING:
To avoid transferring and tanned palms, DO NOT touch your skin until after your first rinse or shower.
-
SLEEPING WITH A STANDARD SPRAY TAN WHILE PROCESSING:
Wear long + light sleeves and pants to bed. If you have a tendency to sleep on your face or on your hands, try your hardest not to, so you can prevent smudging, drooling, or transfer. If you feel that may be difficult for you, you can wear big socks or gloves to bed.
-
I JUST WOKE UP & I LOOK CRAZY:
Most of our clients, who get a standard spray tan, sleep in their spray tans overnight and wake up the next morning feeling TOO TAN. Remember, you haven’t rinsed or showered yet! It’s just the cosmetic bronzer that looks crazy and that will wash off when you do your first rinse. TRUST the process.
-
FIRST RINSE:
Standard: If you can wait the FULL 24 hours to shower, we strongly recommend it. But if you have to rinse off, you may do so in 8-12 hours.
1) If you do decide to rinse, just stand under lukewarm water (NO SOAP) and let the water rinse off the cosmetic bronzer. Once your body starts to run clear water, you know you’re safe to hop out of the shower to pat dry.
Note: In 24 hours, your tan will be fully developed and now you can officially shower with tan-safe soap, pat dry with a towel, and moisturize your body with our LV Glow Body Cream or Hempz body lotion!
Rapid: Due to the higher percentage of DHA in a rapid solution, you are only going to leave the tan on for 2-5 hours (depending on color desirability and what your spray tech recommends at your appointment.) The longer you leave a Rapid solution on to process, the darker your tan will be. When you’ve reached your hour & color desirability:
1) Rinse (NO SOAP) with lukewarm water in 1-2 hours to achieve a light tan, 2-3 hours to achieve a medium tan, and 4-5 hours to achieve a dark tan. When you rinse it’s normal to feel like your color came off, DON’T WORRY.
2) Your spray tan will fully develop in 24 hours, so it’s important to shower again (WITH TAN SAFE BODY WASH) at the 24 hour mark to stop the DHA from over-processing.
Note: DO NOT leave a rapid on for as long as you leave a standard solution on. Rapid solutions have a higher percentage of DHA and if it over processes, your spray tan will pick up warmer tones.
-
DEVELOPING:
If you are sprayed with a rapid solution, keep in mind, while it may FEEL like your tan has “washed off”, remember your spray tan will keep developing for the next 24 hours! What you are seeing going down the drain is the cosmetic bronzer, not the actual spray tan. DHA (the sugar compound that reacts with your skin) is actually colorless, it takes 24 hours to chemically react with your skin to make you appear tan! So be patient and TRUST the process.
-
LOTION & HYDRATION:
After 24 hours, it’s time to hydrate the crap out of your skin. Lotion, lotion, lotion & drink lots of water to keep your skin glowing. We strongly recommend our LV Glow Body Cream & Gradual Self-Tanning Lotion, which are both tan-safe products to prevent your tan from prematurely stripping.
If you decide not to, we have found Hempz lotion (any scent) is a great alternative. Please keep in mind, we cannot guarantee any other OTC products you use will be safe for your tan.
-
THINGS TO AVOID TO EXTEND SPRAY TAN'S LIFE:
Avoid loofahs, hot tubs, pools with chlorine, long hot showers, skincare with retinal or brightening agents, rubbing with your towel, or any exfoliating products until you’re ready for a new spray tan. Remember our skin naturally sheds in about 5-10 days & so will your spray tan.

I ONLY TAKE HOT SHOWERS...
We hate to break it to you, but spray tans and hot water DO NOT mesh well together, period. Hot water will strip the tan and has even made some of our girls get 2 shades lighter because they decided not to listen. Lukewarm or cool water ONLY. Only use hot water when you are ready to remove your tan.
